Privacy, in plain language.
This policy explains what information VK Video Downloader processes when you use the Android app. We built it to be useful, not mysterious.
Short version: we do not require an account or run a first-party cloud backend that stores your videos. Downloads and library data stay on your device. Ads and their measurement partners may process technical and advertising data.

Who we are
VK Video Downloader (“the App”) lets you paste a public VK / VK Video link, preview the stream, choose a quality, and save the file on your device. The App is developed independently and is not affiliated with VK or VK Video.

Information we process
We do not require an account, and we do not operate a first-party cloud backend that stores your videos.
Data stored on your device
- App settings such as theme, default quality, onboarding, and consent preferences.
- Library metadata including titles, thumbnail references, source URLs, quality, status, and local file paths.
- Downloaded video files in app storage and, when saved, your device Downloads folder.
- URLs you paste, held temporarily in memory while fetching or downloading.
Data sent over the network
- VK / VK Video: requests needed to resolve public video information and download media streams you request.
- Ad configuration: a remote configuration request used to load advertising unit IDs.
- Yandex Advertising Network: advertising content including banner, interstitial, and app-open ads.
- Related advertising and analytics SDKs: may process advertising identifiers, device/app technical data, and ad interaction events.

Advertising and personalization
The App shows ads. Personalized advertising can be controlled in Settings → Personalized ads. When personalization is off, ads may still appear in a less personalized form.
Advertising and measurement data may be processed by Yandex and related SDK providers under their own policies: Yandex Privacy Policy and Yandex Mobile Ads terms .

Permissions
- Internet / network state — fetch video information, download media, and load ads.
- Storage on older Android versions — write downloaded files to shared Downloads when required by the OS.
The App does not request camera, microphone, contacts, or precise location access.

How we use and share information
We use information to provide download, preview, library, and playback features; remember your preferences; show and measure advertisements; and maintain basic app stability and ad integrity through SDK providers.
We do not sell your personal information. Video requests go to VK infrastructure as part of the feature you initiate. Third-party providers process advertising and measurement data under their own policies.

Retention and children's privacy
Local library data and downloaded files remain on your device until you delete them in the App or remove the App. Third-party retention is governed by those providers.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and responsibilities
- Toggle personalized ads in Settings.
- Clear cache and library data from Settings.
- Delete downloaded files from your device.
- Reset or limit the Advertising ID in Android system settings.
- Uninstall the App to remove local app data.
You are solely responsible for ensuring that any content you fetch or download is lawful and permitted under copyright law and VK's terms. The App is provided for personal, lawful use only.

International processing and changes
Depending on your location and network path, requests to VK, configuration hosts, and advertising partners may be processed in other countries.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
